So obviously I have been hibernating in the kitchen.. with the only escape being daily runs and the attempt at a daily Christmas blog entry (fail). Ever since I completed my certificate in baking I do all the Christmas baking for my family. We are a small family so I don’t really need to go over the top.. but what can I say I like to spoil my friends and they haven’t complained yet…
One regular routine I have before Christmas and I am sure I am not alone on this, but I go through all my recipe books, and all of my mom’s magazines… to look for inspiration or new things to try. Of course I almost always rotate back to the Christmas classics like sugar cookies. This recipe is from Canadian Living and it really turned out great. I love how cute they look! In Canadian Living they made snowflakes, but I didn’t have a cookie cutter in that shape.
Sugar cookies are fabulous because you can make them ANY shape for ANY occasion and decorate them accordingly. They look delicate and difficult when really they are simple if you allow a few extra minutes for decorating.
Can I just say the ‘cookie bite’ cookies are the best because I get to eat half a cookie… well the whole cookie eventually…
Four more days!! Maybe it’s not snowing where I am but it smells pretty darn good in the kitchen!! Merry Christmas baking!
